Preparing an SVG for laser cutting

Vectorization creates paths, but a safe and accurate laser job still requires production checks in your machine software.

Simplify the source artwork

High-contrast logos and silhouettes are easier to translate into usable paths than photographs, shadows or textured images. Remove details that are smaller than your material and machine can reproduce.

Inspect the traced geometry

After vectorizing, zoom into the SVG and look for stray islands, unwanted background shapes, narrow gaps and accidental overlaps.

  1. Use the intended number of colours.
  2. Remove the background where appropriate.
  3. Open the SVG in a vector editor or laser application.
  4. Confirm the physical dimensions and path behaviour.
  5. Run a low-risk material test using safe machine settings.

Safety comes from your machine workflow

ByePixel does not set laser power, speed, material profiles or machine safety controls. Follow your equipment manufacturer’s guidance and supervise the job appropriately.
