Preparing an SVG for Cricut

Clean silhouettes, sensible detail and a production test help turn a traced image into cut-ready artwork.

Choose artwork that can be cut

A cutting machine follows paths. Very tiny shapes, rough textures and hairline gaps may be difficult to weed or reproduce even when they look acceptable on screen.

Prepare the SVG

Use a clean, high-contrast source and choose only the colours you need. Remove the background when it should not become a cut layer.

  1. Vectorize the artwork in Auto mode.
  2. Zoom in and check thin strokes and enclosed areas.
  3. Simplify excessive tiny details if needed.
  4. Download the SVG and import it into your cutting software.
  5. Make a small test cut before committing expensive material.

Compatibility note

Software versions and machine workflows vary. ByePixel creates standard SVG paths, but you should always verify sizing, layers and cut behaviour in the software controlling your machine.

Try it with your own artworkConvert locally in your browser and inspect the SVG before downloading.
